Trip Details

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi

Our guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport upon arrival or at your hotel in Kigali City and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park after a short briefing about the safari.

From Kigali City to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, it is a journey of 4 hours including the border crossing via their Katuna or Cyanika border, if you use Cyanika border you will have a stopover in Kisoro or Kabale if you use Katuna.

You will drive through Ruhengeri in the Musanze region where you will enjoy the scenic view of the thousand hills before you exit Rwanda, you will also witness spectacular views of the terraces and Lake Mutanda. When you arrive in the park, you will check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day at relaxation or head to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience.

Note: All travelers will need to have an East African Visa which cost 100$

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer back to Kigali

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters with packed and enough drinking water, you will have to be at the briefing point by 7.30 am where a ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations you need to follow during the gorilla trek, carry out registration and be assigned a gorilla family to trek in groups of 8 people.

Head to the starting point, enter into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The forest is usually wet and muddy with steep slopes, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending the movement of the gorillas and their feeding range. Along the trek, you will enjoy sightings of other forest creatures like black and white colobus monkeys, baboons and enjoy sounds and sights of different birds and butterfly species.

Your guide will keep providing information about trees, birds, butterflies and other wildlife in the forest. When you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence. At a distance of 8 meters you watch the gorillas go on with their daily life under a watchful gaze of a silverback, you will be allowed to capture these amazing moments.

At the end of the trek, you will return to the park headquarters and information center to pick certificates, then meet your driver guide and embark on a journey back to Kigali with border crossing. When you arrive in Kigali City, you will be dropped off either at your hotel in Kigali or at Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
